Main Topics:

  • Raising awareness about sea pollution and its impact on marine ecosystems, and the global scale of the problem.
  • Promoting sea protection and sustainable practices (It will address the roles that individuals and communities can play in preserving the health of the sea)
  • Encouraging action on environmental preservation and addressing rising sea levels

Main Aim:

The main goal of our Youth Exchange, "Can`t You SEA?," is to help young people understand and tackle the issues of sea pollution and its impact on rising sea levels. By bringing together participants from different countries, we aim to raise awareness and inspire action for environmental protection on local and global levels. United by Erasmus+ opportunities and the experience from our organization and facilitators, we will collaborate to think of action plans on how to protect the sea, even with small steps. Through this exchange, we want to empower youth to become active advocates and leaders in addressing water pollution and its connection to climate change.

The "Can't You SEA?" Youth Exchange, an Erasmus+ initiative, brings young people from six countries to Pissouri, Cyprus, for a 10-day program on global warming, sea pollution, and marine conservation.

With around 8 million metric tons of plastic entering the oceans annually, pollution threatens marine life and creates vast plastic islands like the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. As an island nation, Cyprus relies on the Mediterranean Sea, one of the world's most polluted waters, for its economy, culture, and biodiversity.

This project educates and empowers youth through workshops, field activities, and collaborative projects, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to protect marine ecosystems and inspire change.

Where the Need for the Project comes from?

  • Lack of environmental education – Many young people aren't taught enough about sea pollution and conservation in school, so they need more opportunities to learn.
  • Empowering youth – Young people are future leaders, so it's important to give them skills to solve environmental problems and create positive change.
  • Local and global impact – Pollution affects Cyprus, partner countries, and the world, so local actions can have a big global impact.
  • Promoting sustainable actions – Teaching youth to reduce plastic use and protect oceans helps them make a difference in their lives and communities.
  • Cross-cultural learning – Bringing together youth from different countries helps them understand global challenges and collaborate on solutions.
  • Supporting EU goals – The project supports efforts to be climate-neutral by 2050 by educating youth and encouraging environmental protection.
  • Sharing Erasmus+ opportunities – Promoting Erasmus+ helps more young people access its benefits.

  • Specific Objectives:

To achieve our main goal, we have outlined the following key objectives:

    • Raise awareness - Educate participants about sources of marine pollution, such as plastic waste and chemicals, and their role in climate change, including rising sea levels.
    • Encouraging action - empowering participants to adopt sustainable practices and take concrete steps to reduce marine pollution in their daily lives.
    • Foster cultural exchange - Encourage cooperation and mutual understanding through interactive activities that bring together young people from different backgrounds.
    • Develop key skills - Provide hands-on opportunities to build skills in project management, digital communication and environmental advocacy.
    • Engage in local action - Organise practical, on-the-ground activities such as beach clean-ups, discussions with locals and marine visits to witness and tackle pollution first-hand.
    • Create Educational Resources - Develop and distribute educational materials (websites, videos, brochures) to extend the impact of the project beyond the exchange.
    • Strengthen partnerships - Strengthen cooperation between participating organisations to ensure long-term collaboration on environmental initiatives.
    • Promote Erasmus+ - Raise awareness of Erasmus+ opportunities while promoting intercultural communication and leadership development among participants.
    • Ensure long-term impact - Plan follow-up initiatives and establish an alumni network to sustain engagement and promote continued environmental action.
